RAILWAY IMAGES UK from ANISTR.com- the online image archive of British trains and railways in the 20th century

Featuring images of steam, diesel and electric motive power and railway infrastructure and people.

We have a collection of many thousands of original negatives and slides depicting the railways of Britain in the last 100 years or so. Many of those have been carefully restored and can be viewed on this website. It is an ongoing process and we have much material in our reserve collection. We have been pleased to supply images for editorial and commercial purposes, including among others, Royal Mail, Hornby, Country Life, The Times, a wide range of railway books and the railway periodicals.

All our pictures are available to buy as traditional photographs or to download for private collection or editorial or commercial use. Our collection is so large that in order to display as many images as possible we are now including those not yet fully cleaned or restored. These have ARCHIVE added as a suffix to their reference ID. We will, of course, restore them fully to the very highest standard when purchased.
